RADIO-FREQUENCY NEUROLYSIS


INDICATIONS:

a) Patient with demonstrated facet pain syndrome
b) Previously positive facet injection, i.e. including the pre-requisites for these injections

CONTRA-INDICATIONS:

a) General medical conditions - e.g. allergy to agents used, bleeding disorder or anticoagulants
b) Suspected infection

c) Previous fusion at the proposed level
d) Substance abuse
e) Untreated psychiatric illness
f) De-afferentation pain
g ) Pacemaker
h) Spinal cord stimulator

LOCATION / LOGISTICS:

a) Theatre or equivalent procedure room
b) Sterile conditions
c) Radiological control
d) Local anaesthetic or neurolept anaesthesia
e) Suitably qualified practitioner
