GUIDELINES: PERCUTANEOUS VERTEBROPLASTY AND KYPHOPLASTY

Indications:

1. Recent vertebral compression fractures due to osteoporosis, myeloma, metastasis and vertebral angioma with intractable pain with no neurological symptoms
2. Painful chronic osteoporotic vertebral fractures showing non-union on the STIR sequence of MR imaging

Contraindications:

1. Coagulation disorders
2. Unstable fractures
3. Complete vertebral collapse ( Vertebra Plana )
